It helps when learning to use your new digital camera to also know what some of the more common terms mean. Below you will find many of these common terms defined..
Automatic Mode — A setting that sets the focus, exposure and white-balance automatically.
Burst Mode or Continuous Capture Mode — a series of pictures taken one after another at quickly timed intervals with one press of the shutter button.
Compression — The process of compacting digital data, images and text by deleting selected information.
Digital Zoom — Cropping and magnifying the center part of an image.
JPEG — The predominant format used for image compression in digital cameras
Lag Time — The pause between the time the shutter button is pressed and when the camera actually captures the image
LCD — (Liquid-Crystal Display) is a small screen on a digital camera for viewing images.
Lens — A circular and transparent glass or plastic piece that has the function of collecting light and focusing it on the sensor to capture the image.
Megabyte — (MB) Measures 1024 Kilobytes, and refers to the amount of information in a file, or how much information can
be contained on a Memory Card, Hard Drive or Disk.
Pixels — Tiny units of color that make up digital pictures. Pixels also measure digital resolution. One million pixels
adds up to one mega-pixel.
RGB — Refers to Red, Green, Blue colors used on computers to create all other colors.
Resolution — Camera resolution describes the number of pixels used to create the image, which determines the amount of
detail a camera can capture. The more pixels a camera has, the more detail it can register and the larger the picture can be
printed.
Storage Card — The removable storage device which holds images taken with the camera, comparable to film, but much smaller. Also called a digital camera memory card...
Viewfinder — The optical "window" to look through to compose the scene.
White Balance — White balancing adjusts the camera to compensate for the type of light (daylight, fluorescent, incandescent, etc.,) or lighting conditions in the scene so it will look normal to the human eye.

Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Digital Camera
The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS digital camera is wonderful.It is amazing how much the technology had changed in those 6 years. This camera actually makes me look like a photographer, & I have actually won three photo contests this fall with pics taken with this camera. it is a 8 mega pixel & has 10 x optical zoom. That enables you to get really close to your subject, but not fuzz the picture. It also has an picture stabilizer, so if you have shaking hands or the wind is blowing, you won't lose your shot. My favorite setting, & the eight I use the most often, is the plant/flower setting. It allows you to get in touching distance with your camera lens of objects & get a really clear picture. I have taken lots of close ups of flowers & water droplets & basically feel like an artist. I never thought I could take pics like this before buying this camera. it is definitely worth the funds you pay.I would recommend it for everyone. Canon A410 Digital Camera
If you are looking for a high resolution digital camera that is inexpensive, then take a look at the Canon A410. This 3.2 mega pixel camera will take pictures with a great resolution to print out great 8×10s.
What I really like about canon Cameras are the lens quality, and the ease of use of the cameras. This is my third canon digital camera. All of their cameras are very easy to use and provide you will excellent quality pictures.

Sony DSC-W120 Digital Camera
The Sony DSC-W-120 Digital Still Camera s a very lovely introductory digital camera for the young relatives, or for somebody who wants to ‘point & shoot’, & end up with a lovely, crisp & clear picture. This camera is wonderful to use, with a mode dial that clearly tells you on the 2.5 inch High Definition LCD screen exactly what that mode is lovely for. You can also take movies with this camera, but i have not, & probably won't use that mode, since i have a lovely camcorder for that purpose.
This camera is very simple to use, & to upload pictures onto a computer, or view directly on a TV set (in high definition too!). You can focus on up to two faces, all babies, or 2 babies & an adult, etcetera, & leave the camera be. When four of the people that you have focus on smiles, a burst of 5 to 10 pictures is taken. The ultimate next step in simplicity if you are trying to get a picture of a smiling kid (i tried this so I know it works - you can use it to get a smirk from a dog!). This only works as long as nobody that you focused on moves any significant distance (more than a foot).
The handy mode dial on the side of the camera takes you through all of the shooting modes, & the purpose of the mode is explained on the LCD monitor for you, for simple usage. there is a very noticeable ’shake-free’ function, eliminating hand shake. The flash can even be set to only work, at whatever level is required, when it is required to make a crisp picture. The ISO level can be changed up to 3,000 (in automatic mode), shutter speed, spec value, white balance & automatic focus all make for wonderfully crisp, clear & colorful pictures. The blues of water can be enhanced using the ‘beach’ mode, to the point that the water looks better in the picture than in real life!

Samsung S760 Digital Camera
The first aspect of the camera that shows that it is for a younger generation is that the price is low. it is not the cheapest camera on the market, but it is still affordable for the younger market. In fact i'm happy to pay the extra to get The Samsung S760 digital camera.
The Samsung S760 digital camera is an exciting development in the world of digital photography. This is the next generation of cameras. It makes no attempt to be a camera for serious or even semi serious photographers. it is a camera for young people, & this is the way that it's been marketed.
The camera has a 7.2 mega pixel capability, which is an brilliant statement. This camera has a lovely image quality, but you would expect this from Samsung, even although you wouldn't necessarily expect this from a camera in this price range.
there is a real fun aspect of The Samsung S760 digital camera. It comes in a whole variety of colors. If ever there were a sign that this camera were aimed at the younger generation, this is it. Digital cameras in child pink & powder blue are not meant for serious photographers, or even grown ups. These color schemes are more for young adults or teenagers. it is a lovely marketing plan, as far as the people at Samsung are concerned.
The other great feature is a face detector. This feature automatically locates peoples faces in the image & tries to focus them . This feature assumes that you are taking photos of people. This feature only serves any use at all if it is being used for portrait or group photos.
This camera has a couple of lovely features that you wouldn't expect on a camera in this price range. The best of these is the duel image stabilizer. This feature allows for you to take pics on the go – in cars, on fairground rides or anywhere else that you can think of. The camera will stabilize the image to permit for clearer pics in bumpy surroundings.
The screen size is a moderate, but still comfortable, 2.4 inches. This screen is not as big as I would perhaps like, but it works perfectly well & there is no require to complain about this. The quality on screen is as lovely as you would expect from Samsung.

Sony DSC-W55 Digital Camera
Sony DSC-W55 cybershot digital camera makes you fall in love with it at the first site. I know that it is one of plenty of different cameras from Sony series of digital cameras, but this one looks special. First of all it is thin & that makes it look elegant.
I compared the price & quality of other products of the kind & I buy what is more convenient. But Sony DSC-W55 Digital Camera was convenient, & it isn’t much considering the fact that it has a lot of great features & 7,2 Mega Pixels. Its dimensions are 88.9 x 57.1 x 22.9mm & it weights only 116g. i am liking that because I can carryover it in my pocket, specially now during the winter when I wear jackets & I don’t have to carryover around bags nor similar stuff. it is great to be able to carryover a camera with me all the time, although I must admit that sometimes I forget to take it.
You can get it in several different colors like black, silver, blue (really lovely pale blue) & pink of course. it is stylish. It comes with with 58mb internal memory which is to make approximately 16 photos), camera strap, Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery (NPBG1) which can last for a long time, even for days if you turn off the camera each time you don’t need it, the stand by mode consumes a bunch of energy, battery charger, USB cable with which you can transfer photos from camera on your computer, AV cable, instructions & application, but usually every computer will recognize the camera even without installing the program.
It has a Clear RAW NR method which optimizes colors of the photos by making the camera more sensitive to the light & reduces the noises. That’s great because this camera can also record movies, you can also record movies with sound & they can be as long as your memory card allows them to be because of the memory. Like most other cameras it has an on screen guide which is easy to use, the screen is 2.5″ LCD. It has a bunch of different zooms; Optical Zoom 3x, Precision, Digital Zoom 6x, Smart Zoom 5M (3.6x), 3M (Approx.4.5x), 2M (Approx.5.6x), VGA (Approx.14x), 16:9 (Approx.4.8x). There are also plenty of different modes of shooting like: Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, High Sensitivity, but I mostly use Beach & Twilight.
i am liking that this camera is fast, when you turn it on it needs less than 2 seconds & you can start making photos already which is kind a important because sometimes you require to take a picture of a certain moment & and as the moment lasts for short period it isn’t easy to catch it, so a quick camera means a lot in these kind a situations.
Tthere are several types of flash that you can set like Auto, Forced-Flash, Slow Synchro, & No Flash. It isn’t easy to learn when to use flash & when not to. sometimes when I put my camera on Auto it ‘decides’ that the picture needs flash & then the picture becomes blur so i have to turn off the flash, even in the dark on the concerts, it is much better not to use flash even if it is night. & sometimes, even during the day it is better to use it although the Auto mode wouldn’t use it. So I usually set my camera on Auto Flash & if the picture becomes blur I turn off or on the flash, dependently on what the Auto mode did I do the opposite thing & my photos come out fine.
I am satisfied with this camera, it has a lovely elegant & stylish design & it is also trendy, it has a bunch of great features & it is also easy to use because it has everything draw on it so you don’t even have to read the instructions, at least I haven’t but that meant taking a bunch of pics before getting the perfect pics. & I must say that pics are perfect, even if you don’t make them in perfect settings because this camera is sensitive to light so it makes the best pics possible. I am perfectly happy with it & I would like to recommend it to everyone who wants a lovely & functional camera.
